Match the tag to the classroom job

One name tag format does not fit every location. Desk plates need to be readable from across a small group, mailbox tags need to fit a narrow space, and photo tags help younger students identify belongings quickly.

Before printing a full class set, test one name at the actual size and location. Long names and narrow holders reveal layout problems early.

Use consistent information across systems

Choose one preferred student name and use it on desks, mailboxes, cubbies, and login cards. Consistency makes classroom systems easier for students and substitutes to follow.

Print only what needs to be replaced

Keep each type of tag in a separate file or tool so a changed name does not require rebuilding every classroom label. Review spelling and preview the full sheet before printing.

Avoid displaying passwords where visitors or other students can see them. Login cards should be stored or handed out according to the privacy needs of your classroom.
