One familiar routine

Watch a sentence grow, one detail at a time.

Each page starts with a short sentence and an illustrated scene. The word-help box offers choices, so students can focus on making the sentence more specific.

  1. 1. Add where.Read the starter and write where it happens.
  2. 2. Keep it. Add when.Write the whole sentence again with a time detail.
  3. 3. Keep both. Add why.Write a fuller sentence that tells the reason too.

What is included in the download?

The ZIP includes two printable PDFs: an October booklet with a cover and four writing worksheets, and a November booklet with a cover and five writing worksheets. A teacher resource license is also included.

How do students use a worksheet?

Read the starter sentence, look at the picture, and choose where, when, and why details from the word-help box. Students write the sentence three times, keeping the previous details and adding one more each time.

Are the worksheets already filled in or colored?

No. The download contains blank black-and-white worksheets for students to write on and color. The completed, colored sheet in the photographs is an example of how to use one page.

What paper size are the PDFs?

Both booklets are formatted for landscape US Letter paper (11 × 8.5 inches).

Does this purchase include other months?

No. This purchase includes the October and November booklets only. Other months are not part of this download.
